History

The Department of Veterinary Pathology was established in 2012 under Prof A.G Ambali as the pioneer Dean. This department was one of the foundation departments alongside Veterinary Anatomy, Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Parasitology, and Veterinary Medicine. The department has basically three units, Diagnostic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Histopathology. Veterinary Pathology was headed by Prof. Oladipo Olusegun Oduye as the pioneer head of the department and assisted by Dr. Mohammed Adam as a lecturer II. The department undertakes undergraduate courses such as General Pathology, Systemic Pathology I and II, Avian and Aquatic Pathology, and Pathology of Tropical Diseases. In 2021, the Department advertised for postgraduateprograms which included Msc and Ph.D. Program. The Department has a total academic staff of four (4) from the rank of Professor to the level of lecturer I. The Department also has a total of four (4) technical laboratory staff. The Department is on block labeled D with offices numbering from D11 to D20. The Department also has laboratories that include Necropsy, Clinical Pathology, and Histopathology. The Department of Veterinary Pathology also renders service for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the areas of clinical pathology, necropsy, and histopathology. The Department has undergone three accreditations with all success stories.
