Veterinary Pathology

Dr. Adam Mohammed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Dr. Adam Mohammed obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, Master’s, and Ph.D. in Veterinary Pathology from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria. He is also a Fellow of the College of Veterinary Surgeons of Nigeria (FCVSN). His research interests encompass anatomical pathology, avian pathology, zoo and wildlife pathology, infectious pathology, comparative pathology, molecular pathology, toxicopathology, ultrastructural pathology, the pathology of emerging and zoonotic diseases, and digital pathology. Since joining the University of Ilorin, he has made extensive contributions to teaching, research, and diagnostic services within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He has established a distinguished academic and research career focused on advancing veterinary pathology and improving animal health through diagnostic excellence and innovative research.

He is currently serving on several academic and administrative committees within the Faculty and the University. He has served as the Acting Head of Department, Departmental Examination Officer, Level Adviser, Postgraduate Coordinator, Clinic Coordinator, and as a member of the Faculty Admission and Quality Assurance Committees. Additionally, he is a faculty representative for the Faculty of Law, a member of the Faculty Teaching and Research Farm Committee, the Penultimate Year Screening Committee, the Communication & Information Science Faculty, the Faculty Mock Accreditation Committee, the Faculty Advancement Promotion Committee, and the Faculty Editorial Journal Committee.

His research has primarily centered on the pathological characterization of emerging and endemic animal diseases in Nigeria, host-pathogen interactions, and the use of molecular, immunohistochemistry, and histopathological tools for disease diagnosis. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and presented his findings at several national and international conferences. He has over thirty publications in reputable journals and conference proceedings to his credit and also serves as a reviewer for many journals.

Dr. Adam Mohammed has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students, serving as a mentor and educator, fostering a new generation of veterinary pathologists and researchers. He is actively involved in collaborative research with both local and international institutions, contributing to capacity-building and knowledge exchange in the field of veterinary medicine.

Dr. Adam Mohammed is a member of several professional bodies and societies, including the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), the College of Veterinary Surgeons Nigeria (CVSN), Association of Veterinary Pathologists, Nigerian Veterinary Pathologists, Society of Toxicology, Physiological Society, and the World Association of Veterinary Pathologists (WAVP).
